If you are unfortunately suffering from an addiction, and require alcohol or drug rehab, there is no doubt you will have many questions. Below, we answer some of the most commonly asked questions, in order to help you better understand what is to come when you finally accept treatment.
What should I take with me to rehab?
You may be involved in quite a range of activities; group sessions, single therapy sessions, and potentially some physical activity. You will want to bring all the essentials you need to feel comfortable. Bring comfortable clothes, pyjamas, comfortable shoes and slippers.
Bring any toiletries which do not contain alcohol, for example, alcohol-free mouthwash. All your bed sheets and towels should be supplied by the organisation. Personal items like photographs and musical instruments will be allowed, and you should check the regulation on devices like laptops etc.
Bring any medications you will need, and these will need to be given in on admission who will take care of your dosage.
Can I take my car to rehab?
If you are beginning treatment for drugs and alcohol, then you should not be driving. It is advised that a friend or family member brings you to rehab, or you can speak to the organisation who can arrange for you to be picked up.
Can I have visitors at rehab?
There is usually an allocated time/day for visitors to come round. You can speak to your advisor and make arrangements for the visit, such as going on a short walk. It is essential that the people who visit have your best interests at heart, and will ensure you stay away from any narcotics to help your addiction.
You may be checked once returned from an outing with guests to make sure you are staying on track. Any breach in rules may mean your treatment plan being terminated.
Will I be able make call at rehab?
You may be given allocated times to use these, but they are usually not permitted during your therapy sessions to help you stay focused.
You should keep your phone on silent in communal areas to respect other people looking to find a peaceful space away from technology.
Can I smoke at rehab?
However, during your stay, you might also find support and advice on stopping smoking.
