Doctors That Test For Mold Exposure

Mold exposure may not be a problem that you think about often. But when someone’s health is affected by mold, they may need to see a doctor. If the physician suspects mold exposure or if the patient has symptoms of problems related to it, doctors may recommend testing for mold exposure. This article will provide an overview of how doctors test for such conditions in order to determine whether or not treatment is needed.

How Mold Exposure Can Affect Your Health

Mold exposure is a potential health risk that affects people in many different ways. It can be detected through a medical test, but this test is recommended only if it is done by a trained and experienced clinician. Doctors can use such tests as chest x-rays, sputum tests or urine tests to determine whether mold exposure has caused an illness. A common mold test is performed by taking a urine sample. The urine is tested for a specific group of bacteria in the presence of certain substances known to be present in mold.

The level of bacteria in the urine will change depending on the level of mold exposure that takes place. If there is a high amount of mold, then the level of bacteria will go down, and vice versa. The important thing to remember about this test is that it should only be done by a trained and experienced clinician.

Training and Experience Are Important

If you believe that you may have mold exposure, it is important to see a doctor. Only a trained physician will know how to properly test for mold exposure. When mold is present, it can cause several health problems. If it is left alone or untreated, the symptoms can worsen or spread. However, there are many treatments available that can help people recover from mold exposure and the symptoms associated with exposure.

There are several symptoms of mold exposure that can be identified through testing. They include coughing, wheezing, chronic headaches, chest tightness and shortness of breath. If you have any of these symptoms or a test shows that you have been exposed to high levels of mold, it is important to see a physician who has experience treating mold exposure cases.

Finding Mold Exposure in Your Home

Doctors often order these tests when they suspect that their patients may have had or are having mold exposure problems at home. A doctor might suspect mold exposure when a patient has an asthma attack that goes away after moving into a new home. A physician also may request the test if the patient is suffering from chronic symptoms.

The physician’s goal in ordering this test is to determine whether or not mold exposure is causing these symptoms. If it is, then treatment can be administered and the mold problem can be solved before it gets worse. However, doctors are not always certain that they know what kind of mold was present or where the mold came from..
