SMILE
As stated previously, he was the first to perform the SMILE procedure. What is SMILE you may ask? It’s a procedure that uses a femtosecond laser. Creating a small incision inside the intact cornea. The incision made is actually smaller than the Lasik flap. The shape of the cornea will be altered, correcting nearsightedness, then it is left to heal within a few days with no stitches and quick results. Without creating a corneal flap as you would with LASIK style surgery, SMILE still produces the same visual acuity according to research.
Dr. Rex Hamilton MD is a well accredited, and a fully capable Doctor for many different procedures involving cataract surgery as well as corneal imaging and biomechanics. Extensive schooling and residency have given him the experience and skill to perform SMILE procedures successfully throughout his career. While he maintains his status as a well-known physician-scientist. A pioneer in many surgical procedures throughout his career, he has become a leader in laser vision correction.
